All pet owners would agree: Pets are part of our family. We wish them all the best: sweet sleep, delicious food and most importantly of all, good health! And this is where our story begins... Meet Elli and Ferdi, these two puppies have changed my life. I hope their story will inspire you as well. Both Ferdi and Elli suffered from diseases that no veterinarian could cure or even relieve their symptoms. Doctors suggested putting Ferdi to sleep and predicted a maximum of 2 more weeks for Elli. Frightened and frustrated, I tried to find other ways to fight for their lives. That's how I discovered many healthy pet feeding communities around the world. I met my mentors from NASA, KetoPet Sanctuary and the University of Helsinki, who introduced me to the fundamental problem - excess sugar in pet food. After learning the main reason why the health of pets all over the world is drastically declining (one out of two dogs suffers from cancer), I made the big decision to cook my own RAW food for my puppies. Wonder how it went? Well, Ferdinand lived for another four years, and Elli is still with us! Not just two of the predicted weeks, but almost three years! And it wasn't stopping there. Together with the teachers, we did a lot of independent research, interacted with thousands of pet owners and thereafter created the ZENOO food recipe. It's not only an organic meat/RAW food subscription for your beloved pet. We are developing an online school, organizing meetings and hosting many other pet-loving related activities. We wholeheartedly invite you to become a member of the ZENOO family.

WAGS is funded and run. WAGS is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is contracted by two cities with a predetermined estimated amount of money to care for the pets that would be brought in based on previous year’s data. In fact, the contract spans 3 years. It is not lucrative money but limited monies to care for the cities stray, lost and homeless animals. To point out, there are no extra funds to handle hoarder and puppy mill cases (at least in this contract). Additionally, possibly due to our good reputation, WAGS has already exceeded the number of pets brought to us in the contracted estimated number. Possibly, we have more pets on property than anticipated because we do our best to rehabilitate and care for animals under our roof. We sometimes assume we have more homeless and lost pets because of our philosophy of care. Overall, WAGS cares for about 400 pets on property on any given day. WAGS has many programs to help pets get adopted. Notably, We strive to provide great medical care. To emphasize, we use standard protocols for care of the pets and facility. With this in mind, we pride ourselves on keeping WAGS in clear order and renovate when ever we have the funds to improve a room or two. We have vast volunteer opportunities, sponsorship, and donation options. Also, We are always open to suggestions for improvement and welcome the community in daily.

I grew up in a small farm community in the Eastern Cape. The world I knew then was only what was surrounding me; the farm, farm lands, livestock, bushes and forest and two or three other farm dweller families. That was my reality, no big cities or big townships. I never knew anything about big rivers, oceans, lots of animals, no idea of big mountains etc. When I grew up my parents moved to the city, things changed, it was a total new world. My world got so complex and vast. It was when I started visiting beaches, zoo, animal sanctuaries, visit nature reserves and botanical gardens and travelling by boats, ships and fly in aeroplanes. I am now an avid traveller, I also go for walks in the natural environments, listen to birds singing and so on. The world has so much to offer for those who grab these opportunities. As a family man I often visit with my family to city parks, nature reserves, and lots of community projects that take care of animals and the environment. I am both an environmental and social activist, and I have spent most of my life either being involved directly in the protection of fauna and flora or training those who are involved in the same. When I travel or visit other countries I visit mostly destinations that would offer natural and aesthetic beauty to tourists. I also have a huge interest in climate change as it is, among others, influenced by human behaviour, more especially air pollution. I am also interested in religion, more especially African Traditional religion. The reason for my interest in this branch of religion is because it is mostly nature based. In other words it is religion that does not separate between humans and nature. For the adherents of this religion life is one and God manifests himself through nature and therefore taking care of nature is a religious duty. As an environmental and social activist I am involved either through making financial contribution or contributing my time in community projects of different kinds. These projects would include contributing shoes to primary school learners who have no shoes, contributing money to soup kitchens for crèches and unemployed jobseekers and many other projects. I am hoping to sustain these initiatives to a level where they can help more people.

The Voorhees Animal Orphanage (“VAO”) is a 501-c-3, non-profit Municipal Animal Shelter dedicated to providing shelter, food and medical care to stray and unwanted animals until permanent homes can be found. We are an open-intake animal shelter serving 26 municipalities in Southern New Jersey, 19 of which are in Camden County. Although the Voorhees Animal Orphanage serves more than half of Camden County, NJ, we do not receive any operational or financial support from the County. The only income we receive are the monthly fees we receive from the municipalities that we serve, and adoption fees. Otherwise, we rely very heavily upon the generosity of charitable donations to help us meet our budget. We are also an Adoption Center. That means when space allows, we are able to rescue cats & dogs from over-crowded, high-kill shelters and rescues. We work with local, regional and national shelters and rescue groups, saving lives wherever and whenever we can. In 2019, we were able to save the lives of over 1,800 cats and dogs who made their way to our shelter. We have saved over 33,000 lives since our inception in 1988. We do not discriminate against any breed, nor do we turn an animal away due to medical conditions or age. Each and every animal in our shelter receives individual consideration and attention, regardless of the number of animals we may have in our care. We believe that every animal has the right home and family waiting for them. Our goal is to operate to meet or exceed a 90% live release rate (a.k.a., “No-kill”).

I’m Toni-Leigh, born and bred in the Mother City of Cape Town. My fiancé and I, are parents to a lively 2-year old girl who arrived 5 years after losing our 3-year old son to a rare genetic disease. I love learning new things. Growing up, I was a voracious reader, reading anything and everything (even the classifieds and property ads) and with the advancement of technology over the years, I can have information at the tip of my fingers, so I’m always eager to learn new things and I’m a fast learner. I’ve always had an interest in Information Technology and was the go-to person in my office before my colleagues would go to the IT office, and now I’m looking into further studies so that I can develop my knowledge and skills. In 2005 I graduated from Varsity College with a Diploma in Travel and Tourism with aspirations of travelling worldwide in my profession. Things didn’t quite work out that way, having worked in retail and a company assisting young people to live and work in the UK. In the last decade or so, I’ve been in the tourism industry behind the scenes, working for an online holiday accommodation booking agency and more recently a company that does tours and safaris in Southern Africa. I also do freelance work remotely, such as, captioning for a speech-to-text service and social media evaluation. I am an introvert but enjoy working with and being in the company of others, while also enjoying being on my own. In the past I used to view being an introvert as a weakness because those higher up in the ranks of the companies I worked for were extroverted but in recent times I realised how much of a strength it is being an introvert as I also have a strong sense of empathy, which I believe is key in Customer Service and building interpersonal relationships with colleagues and clients. I’m passionate about customer service and going the extra mile and l love that feeling of knowing that I’ve made a difference in someone’s day whether big or small. People tend to describe me as hardworking, punctual, efficient, dependable and trustworthy. Covid-19 affected the tourism industry drastically, however, I still want to travel anywhere I can, just soaking up the different cultures and experiences. The last year has been both challenging and rewarding and it has made me see things in a different light and so it has been somewhat of a new beginning for me. I am motivated now more than ever to seek out new passions and adventures and to get out of my comfort zone.
