Gladstone PAWS are a dedicated and enthusiastic Gladstone Animal Rescue and Welfare group located in Central Queensland. We are new on the scene but our volunteers have been working to save our Gladstone pets for up to 16 years. Gladstone PAWS animals are health checked, up to date with vaccinations, worm/flea treated, microchipped, desexed, registered with Gladstone council and dogs over 6 months are also tested for heartworm. They are also socialised in the homes of loving foster carers, not in cages or kennels. We care where our pets go. A pre-adoption interview and property check are required before adopting. The volunteer group formerly known as Team RSPCA Gladstone transitioned into this local independent not-for-profit association in August 2019. With many years’ experience in animal welfare – our mission is to: Rescue and rehome unwanted, abused, neglected and/or surrendered animals (including dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets and reptiles). With the support of our partners, Gladstone District Wildlife Carers Association (GDWCA) and Petbarn Gladstone. Assist the community through the facilitation of a desexing program. Educate school-aged students and the public in relation to responsible pet ownership. Provide Short Term Emergency Pet Services (STEPS) including Crisis Care accommodation for those affected by Domestic and Family violence, or requiring emergency hospitalisation. Provide assistance for older people who are unable to continue care for their pet. This may be due to health, or the need to transition into an aged-care facility that does not allow pets. Australian Animal Rescue Incorporated (AAR) is a non-profit, volunteer run, non government organization. AAR was established in April 2009 after bush fires devastated the Gippsland, Kinglake and Marysville areas of Victoria. Spurred into action by the devastating events that were unfolding, a small group of dedicated volunteers spent 3 months rescuing wildlife and providing as much food and supplies as possible out to the effected people and animals. We at AAR differ from other rescue groups as we also specialize, not only in wildlife animals but also domestic animal rescues and adoptions. Australian Animal Rescue Incorporated operates 7 days a week and provides animal rescue and information services throughout Victoria. Aussie Desert Dogs is run by Gloria Morales, Warlukurlangu Art Centre's assistant manager, and supports the Aboriginal communities of Yuendumu, Nyirripi, Yulamu and surrounding areas. Gloria is dedicated to helping any animal in need, either out in community or in her own home, providing daily support, medical assistance and the provision of food. Gloria also oversees the Warlukurlangu Dogs desexing and worming program, arranging vet visits quarter yearly. Gloria is committed to the full time care of the dogs and animals in the community, taking in strays, 'sick ones' and those in between homes. Long nights can be spent caring for the sick and injured, and there are no closing or clocking off times at Aussie Desert dogs HQ. Aussie Desert Dogs and Warlukurlangu Dogs Program are separate initiatives, however each relies on the other to fully support the people and animals of their communities. The Warlurlangu Dogs Program specifically funds and supports the quarter yearly desexing program that Gloria organises, bringing vet Stephen Cutter and his AMRRIC volunteers out to sterilise dogs and cats (and even horses), distribute parasitic treatment and undertake any treatments and operations required. On top of this, Aboriginal owned Warlukurlangu Art Centre provides regular funding to Aussie Desert Dogs through a percentage of sales of their paintings, to support Gloria's ongoing daily work with dogs and animals in the community and in her care. Art Centre manager Cecilia Alfonso is extremely supportive of Aussie Desert Dogs and the work Gloria does in the community, not only generating funding but also finding herself transporting dogs into town for rehoming and bringing food back into the community! Dogs and dingos hold a significant place of importance in their relationship with Aboriginal People and their culture. Valued in both the physical and spiritual realms as companions, pets, physical and spiritual protectors, water sources and warmth, they feature strongly in Jukurrpa (Dreaming and dreamtime), playing significant roles in Creation stories, song lines and ceremony. Over time, however, as dogs became more commonplace than dingos in the community, the regular breeding patterns of the dogs in communities have led to overpopulation, starvation and illness. Many communities such as Yuendumu are hundreds of kilometres away from a vet clinic and people don’t have access to simple parasitic treatments, medical care, desexing operations and vaccinations. Most of the community shops have limited stock and often don’t supply basic and important animal care products. Purchasing food and medicine can be costly and a journey to the vet, long and expensive. In the words of AMRRIC, 'Nobody should be forced to watch their beloved animal suffer simply because they cannot access treatment.'

Our aim is to help the community become great pet owners through various education programs, online resources and veterinary care programs. Because we believe success will come from addressing the cause, not only the issue.

Charlie was abandoned at only 18 months old at an agistment property. He was just turned out as landowners could not find the owner. He had not seen other horses for five years when the property sold. He faced being shot where he stood, with no one wanting an unhandled, 18HH thoroughbred. FNQ Foster Farms came to the rescue. We had to walk the farm to find him and load him on a truck to bring him home. His feet had not been done for years and were huge. He was so excited to see another horse, he had thought he was the only one left on the planet. Charlie was so kind-hearted and easy to work with and ride. We successfully re-homed him to a home daycare and became their mascot. He was a big, gentle giant who loved kids and would suck on their hair if they stood too close to the fence. Charlie was the start of the FNQ Foster Farms story, but it doesn't end there. Read more about how you can support us in our rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming endeavours. Charlie was relieved to find out he wasn't the last horse left on the planet after all.

Australian Lions Hearing Dogs (ALHD) was initially founded in 1980. The concept of starting the program in Australia originally began with PDG’s Brian Carter and Bob Allen, who had attended an International Lions Convention in the US, during which they’d seen a demonstration from the very first Hearing Dog program in Denver, Colorado. The program was approved in 1980, where the Lions Clubs of Australia and Lions Clubs International Foundation voted to fund the launch of ALHD at the Canberra Multiple District Convention. With funds raised by Clubs across Australia and LCIF, our Training Centre in Verdun was purchased and a trainer, Gale Gold, from the program in the US was brought out for two years to establish the program. The first Australian Lions Hearing Dog, Amber, was delivered to Margaret Bragg of Para Vista, SA in 1982 with the placement being sponsored by the Lions Club of Edwardstown. Since Amber, over 650 Hearing Assistance Dogs have been placed Australia-wide, a local Lions Club involved with each and every one, and all going to their deaf and hard of hearing recipients free-of-charge. ALHD continues as a Lion project, delivering Australians who are deaf or hard of hearing a set of ‘furry ears’ free of charge. It is overseen by a Board of volunteer Lions Members from around the country. The number of their Hearing Assistance Dogs in active service will increase exponentially as they implement their capital expansion program. Their aim within the next ten years of planned growth is to have close to 1,000 dogs in active service at any given time. Australian Lions Hearing Dogs is an accredited member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI). To maintain their membership, ALHD must comply with standards set down by ADI that cover training of both recipients and dogs, animal welfare, administration and more. To maintain ADI accreditation, their compliance is audited by ADI every five years. ALHD remains engaged with the recipient and their dog for the working life of the dog with follow-up accreditation visits every two years.

“Rescuing Cats from the Perils of the Streets” was the original aim of the Cat Welfare Society when it was established in 1961. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated staff and volunteers over many years, we have grown to become Western Australia’s premier cat welfare organisation, trading under the name of Cat Haven. Cat Haven, WA’s largest shelter for homeless, lost and abused cats. Our vision is that every WA cat should be a well-cared for cat and we work towards achieving this by providing: shelter facilities for lost, abandoned and stray cats; a foster care program that allows sick, injured and shy animals to recover in volunteers’ homes until they are ready for adoption; and a re-homing program at the Cat Haven campus as well as through a network of 15 pet stores across the metropolitan area. Cat Haven takes in over 8,000 cats and kittens every year and has a zero euthanasia rate for treatable re-homable cats. We have over 700 members, employ 55 staff and are supported by 71 volunteers who assist at the shelter and over 800 volunteer foster carers. Cat Haven’s core business is not only about improving the welfare of cats and kittens but also about improving the lives of people in the community and protecting our environment. Our rescue and surrender services ensure stray and unwanted cats are properly cared for and placed into suitable new homes, rather than being ‘dumped’ on the streets. In this way we help reduce the stray and feral cat population and all the problems these can create for people, as well as protecting native species. Our re-homing services help people find a cat or kitten that suits their lifestyle, thereby helping individuals and families gain the benefits of owning a companion animal. In addition to these services, Cat Haven run a number of community programs including: Free emergency cat boarding for people in crisis, Companion cats in residential aged care facilities, Subsidised sterilisation and microchipping.

Pawfect Pals Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to rehoming companion animals who can no longer remain in their current situation, as well as those facing the threat of unnecessary euthanasia. Our team is made up of outstanding and knowledgeable volunteers, who work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and find the very best forever homes for each animal in our care. All of our animals live with a foster family while they wait for that special someone to come along. This means they get to experience life in a loving home, and we get to know them inside-out! During this time, they receive all necessary veterinary treatment, including desexing, microchipping, vaccinating and worming. Though we sometimes like to think our dogs are absolutely perfect angels who could do no wrong, sometimes their behaviour doesn’t reflect that image…. Having a professional dog trainer assess and tailor a plan for you and your dog is highly beneficial, whether you have an issue that needs fixing or just want to make sure you’re on the right track to success with your new dog. A trainer can help with a multitude of things, like settling in a new dog, improving their loose lead walking and stopping them jumping on strangers, right through to more intensive behavioural modification for things like separation anxiety, reactivity and resource guarding.

Pet Rescue & Adoption Service was formed to help save cats and dogs of all ages from unnecessary euthanasia and situations of abuse and neglect and we also take surrenders of pets from people for a variety of reasons. We also take in many kittens from all walks of life. In some cases we may sterilise the owned mother when we take the kittens. We respect and support other rescue organisations and strive to be part of the total process of freeing our companion animals from suffering. PRAAS is a self-funded, not-for-profit organisation. All work is done by unpaid volunteers. All vetwork & most food, toys, equipment etc are paid by the Rescue owner. The remainder is paid by the Carers. All transport fuel is paid by the owner, carers & other volunteers. Our rescued pets live as fosters in a home environment. Each might live with a family, a single, cats, dogs, other animals, children etc & it will be included on their profiles in which kind of environment they are known to be comfortable. All cats live inside only; where possible this includes a secure outdoor run. They are also fed a very high quality, nutritious diet as I believe that this is part of basic care for our loved pets. We require our adoptive families to have the same attitude towards their new pet's nutrition and to feed them similar quality food. A vital part of rescue involves desexing every animal that passes into our care and education of the importance of this process to members of the public with whom we come into contact. No animal will be adopted without first being microchipped, vaccinated and either desexed or with a paid certificate for desexing at the appropriate size. Desexing is THE key to the total well-being of our pets and the value that people place on them. Only in rare circumstances will desexing not occur e.g. if the animal is elderly or frail & it is advised by the vet to be unnecessary or dangerous. Once our rescued pets are healthy, desexed and have had all the necessary work according to current legislation, they will be offered to the public for adoption. New families will be carefully selected. All animals are adopted with the expectation that finally, this will be their lifelong home.

Our centres throughout Queensland are where we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome. For the 45,043 animals that arrived at an RSPCA Queensland centre over the past year, it was a second chance at life. Our commitment to saving lives can be found everywhere at the RSPCA. “Have I done everything reasonable to save this animal?” can be found near offices, on our software and as part of the landscape. Saving lives is a way of life and one that the staff and volunteers are committed to.

At Dog Logics, we treat every Dog as an individual. Like humans, each dog has its own way of learning, and we draw on techniques that work with the Dog’s temperament, instinct and learning ability. Whilst working with all owner and Dog combinations, we also consider the owner’s level of skill and knowledge when putting together a successful training program. Scientific based positive and humane training methods are used at all times. Training is teaching your Dog to share a common language or words and signals. As with any communication, you and your Dog need to understand each other, and when you do, you will be amazed at just how clever Dogs really are and what can be accomplished. We now know far more not just about how Dogs experience the world through their senses, but also about how they communicate with each other (and us) through body language. We’re learning more about a Dogs’ emotional experiences and the ways in which people have been misinterpreting key signs from them over the past few decades. Understanding your Dog’s experience and gaining insight into how his mind works can truly make you a better teacher, caregiver and companion to him. Seeing the world from your Dog’s perspective will help promote communication and enhance the relationship between you.

PetRescue is a national animal welfare charity like no other. We help save thousands of lives every month by looking at the big picture, disrupting the status quo and finding innovative tech solutions to the biggest challenges facing rescue pets in Australia. We were disruptors before ‘disruption’ became an overused buzzword. In 2004, we launched the first national pet adoption website to help rescue pets, who may otherwise go unnoticed, find a new family to love for life. Today, our free programs and services help millions of Australians discover the joy of adopting a new family member and help more than 1,000 rescue organisations, shelters and pounds save the lives of thousands of rescue pets. We have a vision of a future for Australia where every pet is safe, respected and loved. And to get us there, we’ve developed a mission that looks at the bigger picture, drives social change and unites to save lives. Thanks to your kind support, we’re able to create positive solutions to the biggest issues and challenges that rescue pets face across Australia by looking at the big picture, leveraging digital innovations and driving social change. We’ve created an environment where the best talent in animal welfare, technology and marketing can use their knowledge and expertise for good, and we’re extremely proud of the team that drives our mission today. Building strong industry relationships with some of Australia’s biggest brands has enabled us to give rescue pets greater reach and bring more benefits to grassroots community rescue organisations.

Cheltenham Cat Rescue is a registered animal welfare charity organisation, with deductible gift recipient status. Our focus is on the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of cats across Melbourne. Cheltenham Cat Rescue (CCR) commenced rescue operations in June 2015. After fostering for a number of years with other wonderful rescue organisations – and learning about the companion animal issues across Victoria and Australia – CCR founder Natasha thought she could add further value by setting up her own rescue organisation, the idea being to assist in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of cats within the Melbourne community. Working collaboratively with other rescue groups, councils and pounds across Melbourne, Cheltenham Cat Rescue focuses on rescuing homeless cats and kittens in need. Homeless doesn’t always mean the pound, though. Whilst it is true that many of our cats can come from the pound, we also receive calls from members of the community regarding homeless cats wandering onto their property as well as calls for help from people who can genuinely no longer care for their cats, for one reason or another. We are an all-breed cat rescue organisation, staffed entirely by volunteers and funded only by public donations. All funds raised go straight back into helping the cats and kittens in our care. Our survival as an organisation relies on the network of our volunteer foster carers, who assist in the provision of temporary homes whilst forever homes are found. Without these carers, rescue organisations like CCR would cease to exist. All cats/kittens rescued are fully vet worked before being rehomed. We are not a shelter and as such, we do not have a centralised location. All adoptions take place via an adoption application process, the aim being to find the purrfect match between human and feline. We believe that all breeds of cats deserve loving and caring homes and any medical care necessary to ensure the best possible quality of life, regardless of their age or condition. Through our work, we also seek to educate the community on responsible companion animal guardianship, holistic cat health care management and the dire situation of thousands of healthy cats and kittens being euthanised everyday in Australia… and what can be done to prevent this from happening.

Paw Print Hearts Animal Rescue of Tampa, Florida was established in June 2014 after a group of volunteers spent time at a local county animal shelter and discovered the volume of dogs being abandoned at shelters in Hillsborough County and surrounding counties. Our volunteers learned that healthy dogs are euthanized in these high-kill animal shelters due to overpopulation. Paw Print Hearts Animal Rescue works toward getting dogs placed in local foster homes. We raise funds for boarding and vetting the dogs we save. We hold local adoption events. As of 2018, we saved more than 1,000 dogs and that number increases daily thanks to generous donations, the kindness of foster families, and dedicated volunteers. Our rescue consists of a group of dedicated volunteers that take dogs into their homes and lives while the dogs and puppies are awaiting adoption. No salaries are paid to volunteers or anyone associated with the rescue. All funds collected go directly to the care of the dogs and puppies. We are in constant need of foster homes to allow us to save more dogs and puppies. Please consider being a foster home for a needy dog or puppy. We are always seeking financial donations to allow us to provide more services for our dogs. One hundred percent of all donations are used to benefit the dogs and puppies.
